LUIS CAMACHO CAMPOY
WANDERING IN DARKNESS
This series started in 2017 and which I continue with several drawings in progress, belongs to a project in common with Marvin Liberman , an American sculptor based in Madrid, with whom I share my way of seeing and understanding the world, although our artistic paths are very different.
On many occasions I have been asked about the origin of my art, its darkness and emotional weight. The answer has its roots many years ago, when being a child I dived through the library of my parents' house where, among countless novels and art books, I found volumes of esotericism and philosophy, religion, themes of mystery and works of authors such as Lovecraft and Poe.
On the other hand, the influence of the comic is indisputable in the treatment of many of my drawings. Magazines such as 1984 that later was Zone 84, Cimoc, Comix International, with authors such as Wrigston, Corben, Altuna, Maroto, Bernet, Miller, Bisley partly modeled my way of drawing and using the line in very different ways.
